Karen Hawkridge & Backcountry Artistry

Karen was born and raised in the Cariboo/Chilcotin region of British Columbia Canada, in the town of Quesnel. It is there she met and married her husband Mike. Together the have continued to pursue their passion for horses, cattle, and the ranching way of life. Together they have managed some of BC’s most remote ranches, some being a three hour drive to the nearest town. Karen mixed her love for the cowboy way of life with her unique artistic ability to produce some incredible “true to life” work. She captures her subjects while they are busy working, relaxing, or simply living their everyday ranch life. She now calls the small ranching community of Baker Creek, about 60km west of Quesnel, her home. There, Karen and her family, work with neighboring ranches and help during spring brandings, summer range riding, and fall round ups. Each season, Karen continues to follow her passion, working on new art and keeping cowboy (and cowgirl) traditions alive.

Karen has very few limited prints made, further ensuring the value of the collection.
