Your Outfitter
Mike started his guiding career over 10 years ago in the Chilcotin Mountains of British Columbia. He learnt the many aspects of the guiding industry under renowned outfitter, Rush Dalziel. Mike spent two years with Rush, guiding and packing hunters into the remote mountains of the southern chilcotin.
His first guided hunt was for a mountain goat, which was successful and he became hooked on the thrill of guiding for life. Mike and his wife, Karen, then moved on to different outfits to gain the knowledge and experience they share with their clients today.
While guiding in northern BC, he guided successful hunts for Stone Sheep, Grizzly, Mountain Goat, Trophy Moose, Mountain Caribou, and Black Bear. He spent some time as an outfitter in central BC, during that time he operated a cattle ranch and a guiding outfit. Moose, Black Bear, Mule Deer, Wolf, Lynx, and Wolverine were the species that were hunted within the guiding area. After many prosperous years, as a guide and a trapper, he yearned for the mountains and the animals that inhabited them.
Mike is committed to becoming one of the best outfitters in BC. Those are big boots to fill, but with always expecting more from himself than anyone else, he knows he is on the right trail.
Your Crew
All the guides for Tatlow mountain are hand-picked, with years of knowledge and experience. No two guides are exactly alike and each has strong attributes that help us be one of the best outfits out there today. We feel fortunate to be able to have such an incredible team to offer to our clients. We consider our horses as part of the crew, they are just as important to our success as anything. The horses are chosen for their good mind, good foot, good bone, and sure-footedness. We take great care of our string of mountain horses, knowing they in turn will take care of our clients. Our seasonal staff measure up to the rest of the outfit and with everything in place we are able to offer our clients an ultimate adventure of a life time!
Your Accommodations
Our cabins are comfortably rustic log structures in a spectacular mountain setting. We also offer a large main lodge with an outdoor covered deck - here all meals are served. It is also the main place that everyone gets together for good times and great stories. All the client cabins are a very short hike from the lodge, on the shores of scenic Tuzcha Lake. In addition, our friendly western hospitality will have you feeling like this is truly a home away from home.
